To create a new connection, choose the “New Connection” item in the “File” menu or press Ctrl+N. The New Connection dialog window will appear. Choose a connection type at the beginning of the configuration process.The “Server” field is mandatory, while the other fields are optional.
Connection Name – defines the connection name being displayed.
Group Name – defines the connection group name.
Server – host name to be connected to.
Username – user name.
Password – user password.
Domain – domain name.
Use custom port – if checked, the field below defines a port to be used.
Auto login – login to the remote system automatically.
Attach to console – connection to be established to the system console (support for Windows 2003 and above).
Screen resolution – list of the predefined screen resolutions.
Screen width – screen width in pixels.
Screen height – screen height in pixels.
Color depth – color depth.
Custom geometry – if checked, the “Screen width” and “Screen height” fields will display, otherwise, the “Screen resolution” will display.
Full screen – run in a full screen mode.
Force update screen – forced update of the session window (Linux only).
Smart sizing – change the image proportions when resizing the window (Windows only).
Control size – automatically change the session window size to fit the window size.Note: changing the session window size requires reestablishing the connection (due to the RDP protocol constraints).
Redirect Sound – depending on the selected item, sound will be played back on the local host or remote host or will be switched off.
Using windows key combination – depending on the selected item, the Win key combinations will be directed to the session window or will not.
Redirect drives – allow access to local drives from the remote session (Windows only).
Redirect printers – allow access to local printers from the remote session (Windows only).
Redirect COM ports – allow access to local COM ports from the remote session (Windows only).
Redirect smartcards – allow access to local smartcards from the remote session (Windows only).
Redirect device for Linux – list of the parameters of the local devices to be accessed from the remote session (Linux only). Refer to the rdesktop documentation.
Start following program – start the specified program.
Start maximized – start maximized.
Program path – path to the file being started.
Working dir – working directory of the program.
Cnnection speed – predefined settings for the particular connection speeds.
Bitmap caching – cache images.
Desktop wallpaper – display desktop wallpaper.
Animation – display animation.
Themes – apply themes to graphic elements.
Show contents of window while dragging – display the window contents while dragging.
